Rock City & Coolidge Park

We started off today by climbing Lookout Mountain and going through Rock City. It was phenomenal! Two missionaries found this place when sharing Christ with the Native Americans of the area a couple hundred years ago. We saw 7 states from the top and lots of waterfalls, sculptures of dwarves, fairytales and many other beautiful and silly things.

We ate lunch at the famous Sticky Fingers, played at a cool city park in the afternoon, and ate at Mellow Mushroom tonight. We've had a great week and look forward to heading back to Memphis tomorrow. . .but first we'll stop in Nashville for more fun--stay tuned!

Today we went to the Aquarium. This time we got the blessing rather than the curse. THe deal that we got info on in the mail was actually a good bit cheaper than in reality and they gave us the rate we read about in the mail! And then when we redeemed our tickets we found it was for 2 days instead of 1!!!! This aquarium was incredible! There are two parts, fresh and salt water and we went to a 3-D imax movie on dolphins and whales in between. Check it out:

Chattanooga Children's Museum

We actually left at 4:45 a.m. to get to Chattanooga in plenty of time to have a fun-filled day at the Children's Museum to start off the week. Unfortunately, due to deceptive info online, rather than getting in for free we had to pay full price :( After speaking with the manager we got 5 free passes to come back later for free, but have no plans to use them. So if you have a use for them, let us know! Anyway, we had plenty of fun and it was well worth the price of admission. Check out the pics:

Cake & Jammys

Ethan and Julianne have been working on serving and sharing this month.  Each time "caught in the act" of either serving someone or sharing voluntarily, they got a bunny foot sticker on their bunny trail (pictured below).  The reward at the end of the trail was this great cake!

Also, the kids requested jammys from Grannie the seamstress and she went all out.  "May Day put dem on when day ready to go deaux deaux, cher."

Easter Egg hunt 2008

Christ Church hosted our annual egg hunt and it was a huge success!  There was balloon making, face-painting, space walks, and a giant bunny. . .oh yeah, and an explanation that the eggs symbolize new life that we find in the resurrection. . .

We had lots of fun and are really looking forward to the big day tomorrow!  Look for an Easter video tomorrow night!

post-tornado

The tornadoes blew through memphis and we're still here.  We had a second tree fall down in our yard, but it hit nothing but ground.  Thank God--He is good.

Star Wars!

Ethan's friend Daniel is turning 6 and invited Jedi alien Ethan, Princess Ju-Leia-anne, and Yoda John Mark to join the force with them tonight to battle the evil siths.  Unfortunately John Mark has the gunk in his eyes and funk in his nose so he's home with Dad.
What is your favorite Star Wars memory?

Tree playground

One of the big oaks in our backyard fell during the big windstorm a few days back.  It's every little boy's dream--a giant playground in the backyard!!!

Now we just need to figure out what to do with all this wood.  Mine is to start a firepit in the backyard.  Another is to build a fence.  Any other ideas?

Worship anywhere

We caught Julianne singing a song to God in the living room and she asked, "Can we worship?"  (We haven't done it in a while, but we used to sing songs to God together at night).  Our neighbor Jacquesha was over and asked, "what's worship?"  "It's when we sing songs to God," the kids responded.  "I thought that's what we do on Sunday?" says Jacquesha.

So Ethan chimes in and says, "Dr. Steve Dodson says that we can worship anywhere."  (a couple of weeks ago Ethan came to "big church" for the first time in a while.  Our Sr. Minister Steve shared our God-given vision for our church as we go into the future.  Part of this vision is "worship as a lifestyle.")  At least the kids get the vision!!!  And then we had a great time worshipping God together.

Epiphany '08

The celebration continues!
